My last post talked about making it safe for students to be wrong. What happens when it isn’t?

Well, it creates a state of mind where safety is found in being right. Thus, helping others to be right feels like helping them to be safe.

In reality, I’ve found that people feel very unsafe when I show them how to be right. Ironically, and unintentionally, I’m doing the same thing to them that some teachers do to their students.

Maybe those teachers are doing it for the same reason. Maybe no one made it safe for them to be wrong.

P.S. I write from my personal experience as an autistic. What I share is not a substitute for advice from an autistic medical professional. Also, some of my opinions have changed since I first wrote them.
